Student Life Camp Is
WORSHIP
Each evening at camp, your students will experience authentic worship and engaging teaching in corporate Worship. Some of the country's best Worship Leaders will participate in praise and worship, and the Camp Pastor will bring a compelling message that builds on the camp theme. Like all group worship events at camp, corporate Worship includes a fully designed backdrop that serves as the set for All Things To All People (AT2AP) actors. All Things To All People will lead students in the theme development through the week as they use the arts to illustrate the week's biblical truths. Many worship services include opportunities for your students to be involved in leading worship. While we draw from modern technology and multi-media, our goal is facilitating an experience where people can draw close to God. We hold the integrity of worship in the highest regard and it is our focus, not video screens or sound systems.
FAMILY GROUPS
Family Groups and corporate worship services make up the two most important parts of camp. A Family Group is 9-12 students and a few adult leaders who meet for Bible study, prayer gatherings, and Recreation or mission work sites. Family Groups are designed to foster intimacy, honesty, and accountability. You can decide if you want your students to be in a Family Group with students from other churches (Combined), or if you'd rather they were on their own (Independent). Family Groups are split into junior (7th-9th grade) and senior (10th-12th grade) divisions. Note: Mission Camp participants will all be placed in independent Family Groups.
Family Groups-in fact all components of Student Life Camp-are designed to give Youth Ministers a break from responsibility so that they can focus on building relationships with their students. One of the greatest aspects of Student Life Camp is that we free you to be what God has called you to be--a Youth Minister. We also believe in investing in the local church by having adults from your church lead Family Groups. This may be intimidating to many leaders at first, but many of those same leaders will become some of your best youth workers in the future.
GROUP ACTIVITY OPTIONS
Recreation
Every full camp day, students enjoy two hours of Recreation. Or if they've registered for the Mission Camp track, they'll do five hours of missions.
During Recreation students participate in group-building activities through initiative activities, water games, and some competitive activities. The Camp Theme and Scripture may be incorporated in Recreation throughout the week, reinforcing the holistic approach to the Student Life experience. Recreation Leaders (part of the Student Life staff) oversee all activities. The goal of this time is to build the small group so Bible Study time will be more effective.
Missions
With the same Morning Celebration, Bible Study and Evening Worship as students at Student Life Camp, Mission Camp students gain a different life transforming experience as they spend five hours each day at mission sites.
At these sites your students will be involved in serving others as they repair homes, serve food to the hungry, visit nursing homes or teach children in a community center—and those are just a few of the options!
Looking for something different to do with your group each day? Church Connect may be right for you!
Church Connect
With Church Connect you choose what you want your group to do during the day-from area attractions to on campus options located at select locations.
Here is the skinny, after Celebration, your group would have your
Family Group Bible study as independent groups and then hit lunch and
have the rest of the day from about 12:30-5 pm to do what you want to
do with your group....this could include heading into town, white-water
rafting, going to the area attractions, catching a ball game,
putt-putt, playing paint ball or enjoying water activities. Options
vary by location, and this option is available at select locations that
might meet your needs.
CELEBRATION
After students begin the day with their church in quiet time, they will join the rest of the camp in Morning Celebration, a high-energy worship service. Camp Pastors bring students compelling truth centered on the camp theme. Gifted Worship Leaders lead students in authentic worship. Student Life embraces many facets of technology to help students engage in the worship experience. The morning session includes original short films, daily camp news presented in a humorous way, and updates from the recreation fields, mission sites, and other activities. As with all corporate worship events at camp, Celebration includes a fully designed set for All Things to All People (AT2AP) actors.
