How is Student Life Ski designed?
Student Life Ski is a weekend ski retreat for your group. Your group spends the day skiing and the evening in worship. You are just responsible for meals and having fun! Please see a full schedule on studentlife.com.
Who can attend Student Life Ski?
Junior high students, senior high students, college students, and adults are welcome.
What happens during evening worship?
During evening worship, we will enjoy praise music, drama by All Things To All People, and a challenging message. Designed for students of all ages, evening worship is an awesome way to end each day.
What is the general schedule of the event?
The first and fourth day are travel days. On the second and third days, the ski lift is open from 9:00a.m. – 4:30p.m. The day is free for you to ski or explore, as you want! Then, evening worship is at 7:30p.m.
Who handles the ski rentals and lessons?
Ski French-Swiss is a North Carolina company that will provide lift tickets, all ski rental equipment, and ski lessons. They will stay on the slopes with us to take care of any problems with boots, skis, and poles. They will contact you closer to the event to confirm details.
Do I need to plan on having my own transportation during the weekend?
Yes, each church will provide their own transportation to the slopes and Farthing Auditorium for worship services. Also, if you want to go out to a local restaurant, your group will need your own means of transportation.
What are the meal arrangements?
Meals are not included in the package price. There are plenty of options in Boone such as Applebees, Chick-fil-A, Subway, McDonald’s, and Ruby Tuesday. There are also great local places to choose from.
What are the housing arrangements?
There are several different accommodations to choose from. You will be assigned your housing preference based on the date we receive a full deposit.
How many will be in each room?
Prices are based on 4 people per room, there will be a $30 charge per empty pillow, per room, per night for a total of $90 per empty space.
What is the program only option?
This option is for those who only want to attend evening worship. This participant does not ski or stay in a hotel, and the program only price is $59.
What is the price for those who do not wish to ski?
A non-skiing participant who stays in the hotel may attend the weekend for the cost of your other attendees, minus $130.
What is the price for those who wish to ski but not stay in a hotel?
Those who wish to ski and attend worship but choose to find their own lodging may attend for $199.
Will there be a room available for the bus driver?
You may reserve an additional room for the bus driver at $315-$575 for the entire weekend based on the rate at the hotel which the group selected. Please let us know you need a bus driver room when you register. This option is only possible if there is space available at the hotel.
What about ski lessons for beginners?
All beginners should plan to take lessons at the SkiSchool. The cost for lessons is $12-$15 per lesson and is not included in the package price. You must let Ski French-Swiss know how many beginners you have when they contact you in December.
What about snowboarding?
Snowboarding is available for $9 extra per day. You must let Ski French-Swiss know how many snowboarders you have when they contact you in December.
What happens if there is no snow?
In the event of no snow, we will turn the weekend into a retreat with additional worship time and will refund the cost for lift tickets and ski rental equipment. In past years, we have always had snow.
