Welcome to “camp above the clouds.” At Covenant College, there’s always the chance that you’ll wake up and actually have to look down to watch the clouds roll by. This Christian liberal arts school is a favorite location among students and Student Life staff alike, in large part because it offers an ideal camp setting removed from the sights and sounds of the world (even though it’s just a 15-minute drive from downtown Chattanooga, TN). And it’s hard to ignore God’s handiwork when you’ve got a magnificent view of seven neighboring states and all the beautiful natural scenery spread out as far as the eye can see. A favorite location for church group time is located at Lookout Point in order to see the magnificance.
But the beauty of Covenant College is indoors, too. Just step inside the chapel and look for three breathtaking floor-to-ceiling windows that tell the history of the Christian faith in colorful stained-glass pictures. Carter Hall, which provides some of the housing as well as the camp cafeteria, is a converted hotel with almost a century of charm and elegance to its appearance.
Covenant College has hosted Student Life Camp since 1994, which makes for the longest partnership between Student Life and any camp location. In more than one respect, it can be a truly unique mountaintop experience for those attending Student Life Camp.
