    Frequently Asked Questions

    What is Beach Camp like?

Student Life Beach Camp is a Christ-centered conference-style camp for 7th-12th graders. It includes engaging worship from experienced worship leaders, learning through sound Biblical teaching and free time to explore your location!

What is the difference between Rec Camp and Beach Camp?

Beach Camp offers more of a conference experience where your group is free to plan and enjoy the beach and other activities in the area. You are in control of your own meals, transportation and lodging. Scheduled programming includes a morning and evening service and materials for Life Group Bible Study (a suggested daily schedule is available). Rec Camp is typically held on a college campus or conference center where the meals and lodging are provided. At Rec Camp, Student Life staff coordinates organized Recreation during the day, which Life Groups participate in together.

Do we need to be a specific denomination to attend Student Life Camp?

Not at all! Student Life is an inter-denominational, evangelical ministry serving the local church. Feel free to contact us if you would like a list of church references.

Why do you not hire staff to teach the Bible studies?

We believe it’s important for adults from the local church to be involved in what happens at camp. After all, they go home with the students.

    What is a Life group?

A Life Group is about 8-12 students coming together under the leadership of an adult from your church. A Life Group’s purpose is to learn about Jesus through Bible study, prayer and group-bonding activities so they can continue to disciple and invest in your students’ spiritual growth back home.

How will Life groups work at these locations?

Student Life does not organize a specified time or location for Life Groups during Student Life Beach Camps. However, we will provide the curriculum to you ahead of time. We have found that students love Life Group time.

What will adult leaders do at camp?

Your adult leaders will be the all-stars of camp. They will disciple your students during Life Group, pray with your students, hit the sand and smell like sunscreen, help enforce lights out so you’re all ready to go for the next day and more! A Life Group Leadership Meeting is held each morning (with lots of coffee) to help your leaders prepare for Life Group and pray together.

What will Student Pastors do at camp?

Student Life is designed for Student Pastors to be free of a lot of responsibility. This is so they can be available to spend time building relationships with their students. Each evening there will be a Student Pastor Gathering before Worship. This meeting takes place while your students are getting seated in the Worship Center.

What is the adult to student ratio?

One adult for every five students (1:5) is requested. For condos, one adult, 23 years or older, is REQUIRED per condo. At some locations, an adult would need to be at least 25 years or older, check the lodging descriptions under the “Hotel” section for these requirements.

What does the Program Only cost include?

The cost per person includes all programming in the worship center, a camp t-shirt, Bible study material, free parking at the convention center.

Add-ons may be available in certain locations including: 4 nights lodging (max occupancy) meal packages. Check your location’s registration page to find out what add-ons may be available.

What about 6th graders? Are they invited?

It is up to each church. If they are normally a part of your youth group, they are welcome at any Student Life camp. Our programming is designed for students entering 7th grade up until entering college. If your group is younger, you may want to check out Student Life For Kids Camp.

What does housing look like at Beach Camp?

If you’re staying at a host hotel (only available at Myrtle Beach and Daytona Beach): Rooms will be assigned based on the rooming list that you submit 35 days prior to arrival. The cost per person is based on 4 people in each room. The need for additional rooms for any purpose (ie. Safe Sanctuary, storage, family, etc.) is subject to availability and there will be an additional charge. Please contact our office for rates. Room types are not guaranteed. Discounts are not given to individuals using rollaways, cots or air-mattresses. **Property selection cannot change after your 35 day out deadline. Groups that have not paid their deposit by Jan 31 and/or final balance 35 days prior may be moved to a Program Only registration.

If you’re booking your own rooms: Student Life has partnered with some area condos and hotels so you can book your own rooms at a discounted rate. This gives you the flexibility and control to have the number of rooms and types of rooms you need to best accommodate your group! Select “BEACH” in the gray bar under our logo, then select “HOTELS.” You also have the freedom to book housing through outside parties if that works better for your group (AirBnB, VRBO, etc).

    What about handicap accessible rooms?

If someone in your group needs a handicap accessible room, your best housing option will be to stay at a hotel. Most condos are are not equipped for handicap accessibility. Please contact our office if staying in a host hotel so we can make requests with the hotel.

    Do you provide meals?

We have meal packages available at most of our beach locations. If offered, it will be available on the registration page. Any food allergies should be noted on your rooming list (due in our office 35 days prior to camp) so we can work with the meal providers to accommodate. Some locations have let us know that peanuts or peanut oil may be present in their kitchens.

Do I need my own transportation during the week?

Yes. You may need transportation to the worship center, to pick up supplies or if you’d like to explore area attractions or restaurants. It’s also a good idea to have transportation in case of a medical emergency.

What about accommodations for my bus driver?

Many of the Condos and some hotels on the beach can not accommodate a bus or trailer in their parking lot. We’ve tried to note these limitations in the descriptions. You may park buses/trailers at the Worship center & bring another vehicle for emergencies and to transport the bus driver if needed.

What can we do during free time?

Each location offers a wide variety of activities. Depending on the location, your group can be a part of go-carts, arcades, water parks, miniature golf, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, shopping and jet-ski rentals, just to name a few options. Organized recreation activities are only available at Orange Beach.

It's after the January 31 March 15 deposit deadline. Can I still register for camp?

YES! You can always register for camp (as long as space is available for a particular location). We ask that you try to get your deposit in as quickly as possible, preferably within two weeks of registration.
