UNC Asheville – STAFF info
Bed types: Dorms have 2 twin beds in each room.
Buildings typically used: Likely I will not know your residence hall assignment until next spring when we know what other groups will be here. All our residence halls are suite-style; most buildings are 2 double rooms sharing a bath, while other buildings have a combo of singles and doubles sharing a bath. Occupancy is 4-6 per suite. See the virtual tour here: https://www.unca.edu/life/living/
Linens: Bed linens & towels NOT provided. Twin size beds
Lost Keys: $
mini fridges available for medicine?: Each suite has one or more minifridges and microwaves depending upon the suite configuration.
Meals: Our dining hall is food court style, with selections at multiple stations. Food is a wide range of hot and made-to-order, plus salad, smoothie, and dessert bars. I recommend you peruse the menus online (https://dineoncampus.com/unca/) at the start of the semester in mid-August to see what is typically provided. There are a lot of choices, and everyone can find something to eat.
Food Allergies: Note food allergies on the rooming list and our staff will report these to the camp location (from campus: Yes, our dining staff will work with you to meet every dietary need. We routinely do this with our own students and with every summer group. We appreciate getting that information in advance.)
Free Time: In our Student Recreation Center, we have an indoor pool, plus several indoor courts where we can set up activities such as basketball, volleyball, pickleball, cornhole, and many others. We also have a gameroom in Highsmith Student Union. In addition, we have several nice outdoor areas for open recreation like frisbee.
Additional Forms Required?: if there is a need for continued COVID protocols next summer, we will provide you with that information. For example, this year we asked all residential groups to collect negative COVID tests or proof of vaccination from every participant.
